Zoutelande
Calm, easy-going and cosy. That is how Zoutelande is known. When you visit this sunny village you will surely agree. Because of its profitable location, it is always a couple of degrees warmer than other seaside resorts.
Beach
The beach of Zoutelande is 5 kilometres long. It is sheltered by the highest dunes of the area. In all of the Netherlands, the sun does not shine as often and long as it does here. It is because of the fact that it is the only beach in the Netherlands that is situated to the South. Therefore it is also called the Riviera of Zealand. The beach has a Blue Flag. This means that it is clean and has a lot of conveniences. You can also enter the beach with a wheelchair or stroller. Every year there is a beach volleyball tournament organised. The tournament always takes place on a Saturday in the second half of August.
A look around town
The centre of Zoutelande is a place where you can go shopping. Especially in the Langstraat you will find a lot of shops. You can take a rest at one of the many terraces. Want to take a look at the sea? Go enjoy the fresh wind on the promenade.
Sights
The story goes, that saint Willibrordus dug a well in the 16th century that contained healing water. Because of the sea getting closer, the well disappeared into the water. A copy has been made which can be viewed at the base of the dike. In the direct vicinity of Zoutelande you can enjoy wonderful walks or cycling trips. Especially the area by the dunes is really well-worth it. There are several cycling routes through the area. There is a footpath leading from Zoutelande all the way to Vlissingen, without interruption. Enough possibilities to explore the area in a sportive way.
