Folklore Day 2024
An annual spectacle in Zoutelande on the first Thursday of August is the Folklore Day. There's a market with demonstrations of old crafts, entertainment, and music. This large, cheerful event takes place from 12:00 – 20:00 in the Langstraat and on the Willibrordusplein, in the center of the village.
You can watch demonstrations of chair caning, lace making, horse shoeing, pottery and ceramic baking, wooden shoe making, eel smoking, shrimp peeling, wood turning, rope making, and many other crafts. Additionally, there's also space to showcase small livestock and there are supervised activities for the children like a bouncy castle, face painting, etc.
In the early evening, there are performances by a choir in the square near the Willibrordus well and in the Catharina Church.
Helicopter Ride

Ring Tilting
Traditionally, in the Langstraat, there's also the ring tilting in farmers' costumes on galloping bareback horses, a true folklore spectacle. The 38 mm ring at the camp is sometimes replaced with smaller rings down to just 10mm. All of this is accompanied by expert and passionate commentators who engage the audience and heighten the excitement.
Musical Closing
Subsequently, in the evening in the center, amidst the cozy terraces, there's a musical conclusion of the day.
