Bunker visit 2026

Between Zoutelande and Westkapelle, behind Camping Janse along the cycle path below the dunes, there is a bunker that can be viewed inside on special occasions.

What can you expect?

• Talk about the Battle of the Scheldt: Historian Hans Sakkers gives a Dutch-language talk about the Battle of the Scheldt, an important period of the Second World War.
• Look inside the bunker: After the talk, there is an opportunity to look inside the bunker. A unique chance, as you would normally only walk or cycle past it.
• Collaboration: The visit is organised by Camping Janse, in cooperation with Stichting Bunkerbehoud, Wings to Victory and the Polderhuis.
• Bring your own light: It is dark inside the bunker, so it is useful to bring a torch or your phone light.
• Book available: During the activity, the book In het spoor van de Slag om de Schelde is also available.

• Cost: Participation is free.
• Registration: No advance registration is required.

A special piece of wartime history on the coast

The bunker is located in a beautiful but also historic spot in the dunes. A visit can therefore easily be combined with a walk or cycle ride between Zoutelande and Westkapelle.
