Forest Boudewijnskerke - Nature

The forest of Boudewijnskerke is a young nature reserve between the dike village of Westkapelle and the hamlet of Boudewijnskerke. The 41-hectare forest was created in 2007 and is now a wonderful place for peace, recreation and nature experiences.
Why visit the Boudewijnskerke Forest?
- Varied landscape: Winding walking paths through the forest and along ponds offer a relaxing walk. Stroll past water features, reed beds, pools and young woodland with views of the sea and the iconic lighthouse of Westkapelle.
- Nature with a story: The forest borders creeks that were formed after the Allied bombings of the dikes in 1944. The landscape still tells this remarkable piece of history.
- Peace and space: Less crowded than the popular seaside resorts, ideal for those seeking silence and nature.
- Rich birdlife: The area is home to song thrushes, woodpeckers, whitethroats and many other birds – perfect for nature lovers.
- Combine forest, creek and beach: Thanks to its proximity to the coast, this is a perfect spot for a varied day outdoors. Walking, discovering nature and adventure – there’s even a small pull ferry along the way!
